ABC's of Mrs. Tilton's Class

The ABC’S of

Mrs. Tilton’s Kindergarten

A

Addresses/Phone Numbers:  Please keep the office or myself updated of any address or phone number change that occurs in your family.  We NEED to be able to contact you in case of an emergency.

Art Class:  The students will have opportunities throughout the school year to participate in art lessons led by the district art consultant.

Attendance:  Your child’s attendance and arrival time are very important to the success of your child’s school year!  Much of your child’s learning takes place in a “hands-on” environment.  If they are not in attendance, they cannot always make up the work.  Arriving on time, gets your child off on the right foot and makes sure they are not missing any important information.

B

Backpack or Book bag:  Please help your child to bring a backpack or book bag to school daily, as it is a great aid in helping your child get home with important notes and papers.

Birthdays:  We will celebrate summer birthdays in May and all others on the day or a day close.  If you want to send in treats to share, please contact me beforehand.

Book orders:  Throughout the school year I will send home Scholastic book orders.  You do not have to order books, but if you choose to, books are delivered to the classroom and sent home with the children.  If you want to order for a gift, let me know and I can hold the books and notify you when they arrive.  You can order securely online with a credit card by going to:

www.Scholastic.com/bookclubs class activation code: GKY28.

C

Calendar:  We do calendar activities every day to help reinforce a variety of math skills, including ordinal numbers, counting, number recognition, skip counting, money, etc.

Clothing:  Please dress your child in comfortable clothing for learning.  We sit on the floor, play outside and sometimes participate in “messy” activities.

Conferences:  We have Parent/Teacher Conferences in October and February.  Please join me in sharing with you the child I see in the classroom.

D

Daily Folders:  Children will bring home their folder each day with completed work and parent information.  Please check this folder daily.  Read, complete and return appropriate papers/notes in this folder.

Discipline:  Children are given choices in the classroom.  If they choose to make an inappropriate choice they will be asked to leave the group to spend time thinking about appropriate choices.  If a child continues to have difficultly making appropriate choices, the parent/guardian will be notified.

Donorschoose.org:  This website has opportunities for our classroom to receive donations for materials.  Look for Mrs. T’s class under projects in Spring Hill, KS.

“Me” Bag:  Your child will have a chance to bring the “Me” bag home.  It is like a show-n-tell bag.  He/she can put in it something special to bring to school to share and with your help, write about why it is special.
