Kindergarten Teacher
Welcome to the magical world of Kindergarten at Spring Hill Elementary School! Throughout the year, children are encouraged to explore, question, wonder and discover many new things. I provide many “hands-on” opportunities in the classroom to encourage my students to become more confident readers and writers. You can help your child to feel more confident by reading with and to your child and encouraging them to write.
2012 will find us learning more words to add to our word wall and continuing to reinforce beginning reading and writing skills. We will keep blending sounds together to create new words and listening carefully to all the sounds in words so that we can write more words and stories on our own. In math we will focus more on addition and subtraction, story problems, value of coins, 2 digit numbers, simple time and measurement. We will continue to problem solve, estimate and review patterning. We will continue to explore more science activities with our Quirkle science letter friends.
It's hard to believe we are half way through our kindergarten year together. We continue to keep track of the number of pages we read together in hopes of earning a class party at the end of the year from Price Chopper! We also remind ourselves about how we can be kind and respectful to each other.
We will enjoy "Take Home" books as we start to prepare for First Grade!
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your child's day or what we are doing in our classroom.
