1st Grade Teacher
Welcome to our first grade class! First Grade is an exciting place to grow and learn. Each and every day we are developing into lifelong learners through hands-on, active learning. Throughout the year, we will work with our classroom family to learn many fundamental skills. Please see below a few of the exciting things we will be learning to do throughout our year!
Not only are we learning important skills but we are also learning how to work cooperatively with our peers and teachers. It is important in our classroom to practice our character keys of respect, compassion, honesty, perseverance, courage, responsibility and self-discipline. We will be learning and practicing how to demonstrate these traits in our classroom and at home.
In 1st Grade we will learn to:
- become fluent readers
- decode words
- read and spell sight words
- tell time to the hour and half-hour
- count coins (penny, nickel, dime, quarter)
- do addition and subtraction
- read and use maps through our Flat Stanley Project
- understand the states of matter
- and so much more!!!
We hope to see you hop into our class soon!
