May 4-May 24
Well, we’ve made it. The final installment of PC4Health is here and that can mean only one thing…summer is here! Your job now is to have an active summer and keep working on staying healthy. Keep your body healthy with proper diet and exercise. Keep your mind healthy by using it daily. Hopefully you will all return in the fall ready to get after it. It’s all about choices guys. The choices you make now are important to a healthy, happy life. Good luck!!
PE UPDATE: We are in the homestretch and summer is right around the corner. We will finish off the year with some softball outside. Then we will take a week to practice and tune up for field day. Then, the moment you all have been waiting for, field day, will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd. Wear proper shoes and clothes. Have a jacket handy. Put on sunscreen and have a hat available. We will supply you with a water bottle. Below is a schedule to look over to see how your field day time will be spent.

Everyone will come down to the cafeteria at 2:30 to recognize the 5th grade helpers and have a cool treat. There is no rainout date, so in case of inclement weather we will head to the gym and have some activities for the kids. K-1 will go from 8:15-10:00. 2-3 will go from 10:00-11:50. 4-5 will go from 12:30-2:30.
FEEL THE BURN: Your exercises should be done at least 3 times a week. You are on your own now. You should know enough to get your own exercise program going. Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to develop your own exercise routine to be done at least 3 times a week. 15 minutes is plenty of time. Start with some stretching, add some exercises and mix in some agilities. You should continue this over the summer until we meet again. If you bring in a written record of what your routine is (Before summer break), I will have something for you.
TREAT YOURSELF: Oven Dried Strawberries and Pineapples. You will need fresh strawberries and pineapple (Fresh works best. The best part is chopping up the pineapple). Cut off the tops of the strawberries and cut them in half. Slice the pineapple into ¼ inch wedges.
Place the fruit on a cookie sheet and bake in the oven at 120 degrees for about 4 hours or until they reach desired consistency. It takes a while, but it is worth it. It will keep longer and you can eat them like candy. They taste just like a fruit roll up. Enjoy. Try some other types of fruit if you want.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: Well, the answer to the 5, 4, 3 question is 175. When you divide a number by less than a whole, the number gets bigger. The K, 2, 3 question’s answer is a chicken. Remember, you can’t win if you don’t play.
Here are you new questions:
5th-3rd grades: In what sport do you use a racket, but no ball?
K-2nd grades: What do hippopotamuses have that no other animal have?
WISE WORDS: “Don’t walk behind me, I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me, I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.”
