Shannon Rittgers
Third Grade Teacher
Welcome to Mrs. Rittgers's third grade classroom! A safe learning environment where students are free to express themselves is of utmost importance. Learning can be challenging in third grade, but we go about it in a fun and interactive way. Many activities are incorporated into science and social studies to make the concepts more memorable and interesting.
The students transition quickly from reading picture books to longer chapter books this year, if they haven't already. They learn about different genres, structure of poetry, and master many comprehension skills. They practice writing skills and go through the writing process to write well formatted, three and four paragraph essays.
In math, the students should master their multiplication facts, which takes a lot of practice at school and at home. They learn how to solve long multiplication problems, multiple step story problems, and much more! This is the first year they take the Kansas Reading and Math Assessments, so we work hard to be ready for those throughout the year.
We are always busy learning, but would love to hear from you. You can contact me at:
