Special Education Teacher
Hello! I am one of the special education teachers on staff that have the privilege of assisting students who may not gain academic success as easily as their peers. Our special education philosophy in the building is to help students be as much a part of their classroom as possible. Often times you will find me within a general education classroom, helping assist all students with the academic task at hand. Blending into the classroom as much as possible and NOT identifying students with special needs, while at the same time teaching them to become independent, is our goal.
Other students may require more intense interventions, which are provided within various small classrooms throughout our building. We have several paraprofessionals who help carry out lesson plans and lead small groups. If you step into our classroom, at times you may see four different groups being taught at the same time. Reading, math and written language skills for different grade levels can be observed. You will notice students being encouraged to try their very best while at the same time being taught strategies to overcome academic struggles they may be experiencing.
