Language Arts
Reading:
Each week I will ask your student to read 100 minutes at home. These minutes should be recored on a reading log or in your child's assignment notebook to be checked on Mondays. Logs are worth five points each week and are docked one point for each day they are late.
Writing:
Throughout the year your fourth grader will be keeping a writer's notebook with brainstorm ideas and rough drafts for writing projects. You can encourage your child's writing by reading story books together at home. After you read go back through the story and discuss what you and your child liked about the way the author told the story. This is a wonderful way for you to help your child identify good writing style and word choice.
Spelling:
Spelling lists will be provided on paper for your child each Monday and tests will be given each Friday. You can also find a copy of the week's list at www.spellingcity.com Your child can also log in to this site to play games using the words from the list. If you need a reminder about your child's username or password please email me or give me a call.
