8th Grade Physical Science and 8th Grade Computer Applications

Eighth Grade Physical Science and Computer Applications are the two classes I will be teaching this year.  In science, students will be studying motion and forces, simple machines, basic chemistry, heat, magnetism, electricity, waves, light, and sound.  They may access their online text book by going to https://my.hrw.com   I encourage students and parents to check grades and assignments on Skyward or Moodle.  Contact the school if you have questions on how to do this.  Computer Application students have worked with improving typing skills, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation programs, and other computer applications technology.

This is my 41st year at Spring Hill Middle School.  Great changes have occurred in the district since 1971.  Needless to say, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the students and people here at Spring Hill.

I grew up near a small town in the Flint Hills, Alta Vista, Kansas.  Raising a variety of animals taught me a tremendous amount of science.  I continually relate farming experiences to the science in my class room.  After graduating from Alta Vista High School, I completed my bachelors and masters degrees from Emporia State University.  Since then I have taken a variety of other classes relating to science and computers from eight other colleges and universities.  One thing I emphasize to my students is that learning is a life long process and we can never learn it all.  Just work toward learning a little more each day.

Have a question? Give me a call between 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. or after school, which are the best times to reach me.  If that’s not possible, please call and leave your name and telephone number and I’ll get back with you as soon as I possible.
