Life Skills Teacher

Welcome to my classroom! Life Skills is a classroom and curriculum designed for students with significant developmental disabilities. The curriculum is individualized to meet each student’s specific learning needs according to their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The goal of this classroom is to make each student as independent as possible as they transition into the adult world. Students are taught self-determination and self-advocacy. Students learn social skills, vocational skills, daily/independent living skills, self-care, recreation/leisure skills, and community participation.

The school year has gotten off to a great start in the Life Skills classroom. During the first quarter, we have recreational outings planned for the Overland Park Arboretum and the Louisburg Cider Mill. The students are continuing to run their classroom business selling Bronco Biscuit dog treats. The students will be selling their biscuits as well as several bath and body products at the Spring Hill Craft Show on November 5th. I am looking forward to watching the students grow and learn during the 2011-2012 school year!
