Exclusion Criteria (when you are SICK - STAY home)

Students who have any of the following illness are excluded as designated.  The following list is for common illness and is not meant to be totally inclusive for all childhood illness and diseases.  Circumstances may vary from child to child. 

Please notify the school nurse at 913-592-7142 or the attendance line at 913-592-7277 when your child is ill and will be gone from school. 

Some students may need to stay home longer than stated if they are not well enough to be at school.  Situations may vary, please call the school nurse with questions and details specific to your child.

  • Fever of 99.6 F or higher - fever free for 24 hours without the aid of medication.
  • Constant Cough - cough has subsided or seen by a doctor.
  • Discharge from the eyes that is yellow or green - drainage has stopped OR treatment of antibiotics for 24 hours OR doctor's note states that student is not contagious.
  • Diarrhea (2 or more loose stools) - diarrhea free for 24 hours.
  • Vomiting - free of vomiting for 24 hours.
  • Head lice, Impetigo, Ringworm, Scabies - may return after treatment with affected areas covered when possible.
  • MRSA (methycillin resistant staph aureus) - may return after 24 hours of antibiotics and affected areas must be covered.
  • Shingles - lesions must be covered.
  • Varicella (chickenpox) - lesions must be crusted over and scabbed.
