Nurses’ Notes
Who’s Who and What Are They Doing?
Nurse Diane, RN and Miss Kim, Certified Nurse Aide & Certified Medication Aide (CNA, CMA) are working together again at SHES.
Clinic: We see many students throughout each day who do not feel well or have been injured. We also see students who take medication routinely during school hours or medication as needed for a variety of conditions. All medication given needs to be in the original container and a signed parent consent must be provided. When the medication is a prescription medication, a physician’s signed consent for that medication is also needed.
Hearing & Vision Screening:
During the fall months of each school year, we will check all students’ vision and hearing. If your child does not pass the screening, we will notify you. Should you have any questions about your child’s vision or hearing, please contact the nurse’s office.
Oral Screening:
The Spring Hill School District participates in the Kansas Oral Health Initiative. Each elementary student receives a brief oral screening. A registered dental hygienist will look inside the student’s mouth to check for cavities, infection, gum disease or broken teeth. An entire classroom can be screened in five minutes. Any oral health needs will be noted and given to the school nurse. Should your child have any areas of concern, I will notify you. If you have any questions please call or e-mail me as listed above. If you do not want your child to receive the oral screening, please put that request in writing and send it in to Nurse Diane.
Height and Weight:
Preschool and Kindergarten students will be measured for height and weight.
Please contact us with any concerns you have regarding your child’s health during their school day. We are looking forward to another great school year working together with you and your student.
Thank you!
