Janel Carbajo
Business Educator

Welcome to Business Education!

The classes that you will find me teaching this spring semester are Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Advanced Computer Applications, Business Essentials also known as Career and Life Planning, and Sports and Entertainment Marketing!  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from Kansas State University and a Master’s Degree from Emporia State University.

In Computer Applications II, students learn basic spreadsheet applications using the Excel program and basic database applications using the Access program.  Business Essentials is the introductory class needed to take future classes in the Career Cluster Pathway. Students will explore careers, learn how to apply for a job and participate in a mock interview.  Students also complete a checkbook simulation and learn how to set up a budget. Accounting and Advanced Accounting students learn how to analyze and journalize business transactions for both sole proprietorships and corporations. Highlights in the Sports and Entertainment Marketing class include taking on the role of a Sports Marketing Specialist to start their own professional sports franchise team or the role of an Entertainment Marketing Specialist to start their own band. They design eye-catching marketing documents to advertise their team or band.

Common Core Standards and Competencies are stressed in all of my classes. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom because after all,

“Business Education Makes Cents!”
