Kathy Batelka
Special Education Instructor

I have been teaching for more then twenty years.  I started out teaching special education many years ago, when I was living in New York.  My family and I moved to the Kansas City area in 1985.  I taught for several years in the Kansas City, Kansas School District.  At this time I have been teaching in the Spring Hill School District for twelve years.  I work closely with the general education teachers to help our special needs students be as successful as they can be.

I teach a class, which is personal management.  This class helps students learn to be more organized, and they receive help with subjects they may be having trouble in. We also work on re-addressing math concepts, reading, social studies, and science.  During this fourth quarter the students will be taking the Kansas State Reading Assessment beginning on March 20th through the 23rd. The students will be taking the Kansas State Math Assessment from April 2nd through April 4th.  Each Friday afternoon I plan to continue sending home weekly grade updates.  These updates need to be signed and brought back to me on the following Monday morning.  I try very hard to be in close contact with each parent of the students on my caseload.

If you want to contact me, you may either call me at 913 592-7223 or email me at batelkak@usd230.org
